University of Wisconsin Student Brings Brewing Experience Home
Friday, July 15, 2016

VERONA, WI -- Earlier this year, Tyler Cox with a group of fellow students from the University of Wisconsin College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS) crafted a new beer which is now available throughout Wisconsin.

Organized under the UW’s Campus Craft Brewery, student teams were created and each team crafted their own, unique recipe. After the winning recipe was selected by a panel of expert judges, all the students were able to participate in the production of the beer along with the professionals at Wisconsin Brewing Company. As a result of this real-world educational experience, S’Wheat Caroline, an American Wheat Ale, is now available on tap and in 6-pack bottles across Wisconsin.

Milwaukee area resident, Tyler Cox, was a student in this innovative collaboration which included the UW Madison’s Campus Craft Brewery and Wisconsin Brewing Company. In addition to brewing, students also participated in naming the beer, designing the label, and are now helping to market the product.

To continue the educational process, Tyler is working with local beer distributor, Beer Capitol Distributing, to help tell this great story and share S’Wheat Caroline with his hometown of Milwaukee. On Tuesday, July 19, Tyler will be riding along with Beer Capitol Distributing visiting accounts and sharing his personal story of this collaborative program.

In addition to a ride along, also on Tuesday, July 19, Tyler will be at a Meet and Greet at The Harp, 113 E Juneau Ave, Milwaukee beginning at approximately 6pm.

“Brewing is part of our Wisconsin heritage and this unique partnership will help train our next generation of beer-brewing professionals,” said Carl Nolen, president and CEO of Wisconsin Brewing. “We couldn’t be more proud to be working with the UW on this exclusively Wisconsin collaboration,” Nolen added.

CAPITAL BREWERY 30th ANNIVERSARY BREW – IMPERIAL PILSNER
Thursday, July 7, 2016

MIDDLETON, WI  - What happens when you put Capital Brewery’s first brewmaster together with the current brewmaster? They make beer, of course!

When Fred Scheer visited Capital a few months ago he suggested pursuing a collaboration with Ashley Kinart.

The latest installment in Capital Brewery’s 30th Anniversary is an imperial version of one of the first beers brewed by Capital in the spring of 1986, the award winning Special Pilsner.

“Connecting with Fred has been fun and educational. We had a good time collaborating on the recipe since we wanted to do something as a spinoff of our original Pilsner, but not too far off the traditional path. It was also really interesting to see how much has changed here in the brewery, yet how much is still the same over the years” commented Brewmaster Ashley Kinart.

The beer will be available on draft only at 6% ABV and 27 IBU.

Look for this exciting new beer at your local on premise retailers, and in the Bier Stube and Bier Garten.

Founded on March 14, 1984, Capital brewed its first batch of beer in the spring of 1986. The company has received over 235 major awards in both domestic and international competitions in over 15 categories. Capital was named Grand National Champion in the 2013 US Open Beer Championship, winning six medals.
