Great Dane Holiday Bottle Release
Monday, December 17, 2012
MADISON, WI, December 17, 2012 / Press Release -- Today the Great Dane Pub & Brewing Company announced its bottled Holiday offering: Jolly Old Scratch Barleywine, it's second, for the 2012 Great Dane Unleashed - a series of innovative, "high octane", small-batch beers.

"The only criteria that apply to our Unleashed series are that they are interesting and unusual, and most importantly extreme! We have taken a traditional Barleywine and turned it on its head" Corporate Brewmaster of The Great Dane Brewing Company Rob LoBreglio said. These occasional treats have to be intriguing and even a little experimental. The holidays give us the perfect excuse to scratch that creative brewing itch."

Great Dane's Jolly Old Scratch Barleywine is a rich, full-bodied ale with loads of caramel and roasted malt sweetness, balanced by a subtle tartness imparted by the addition of Montmorency cherries. This is the perfect winter warmer on a cold night, and at 12% ABV, you won't need chestnuts roasting on an open fire to warm you up. The sweet, warming, cherry-chocolate flavor makes it an excellent match with heartier fare such as holiday roasts and seasonal decadent desserts.

Old Scratch Barleywine will be packaged in 22-ounce bottles and hit shelves at select area liquor stores starting Monday, December 18th. These "bombers" will also be available at all Great Dane Locations. Because of the limited quantity, fans should act fast. Jolly Old Scratch may be cellared, but is well-aged and ready to drink this Holiday season.
